Car Sharing

Downtown commuters find it hard to ditch their cars because they need a vehicle for work or personal trips during the day. Car sharing can help!

When it comes down to it, our cars have become our vehicle of escape and our security blanket. With car sharing, we no longer need our own cars nearby to maintain that sense of freedom and security.

Car sharing is an alternative to car ownership. When you join, you have access to a car sharing company’s fleet of vehicles. Members reserve the cars and pay an hourly rate for use. Companies can also purchase memberships for their employees and use these cars in lieu of a fleet.

Downtown Tacoma wants to share its cars with you!

Cars can be reserved for an hour or two or even days at a time, and you can choose from hundreds of vehicles in the Puget Sound area. When you need a car, reservations can be made online or with your smart phone. Your very own smart card or key fob unlocks the car, and included with each reservation are gas, insurance, and 180 miles per day. The best part is that your local car share options are also available in hundreds of cities and many countries around the world. Check out the car sharing opportunities available in Tacoma:
