Join us as on Feb 22, from noon – 1 p.m. at the Pantages Theater as we breakdown the numbers on how we move people throughout Tacoma. We’ll be investigating the gaps in our transportation system and what pathways can lead to a more connected and equitable network. Tanisha Jumper, Director of Media & Communications at the City of Tacoma, will moderate a discussion with experts about who pays for these improvements and discuss how we prioritize where these improvements are realized. In the 9th year of the Friday Forum Series, Downtown On the Go is taking you back to class. Review the fundamental elements of transportation and explore the connections between how our cities are built and your favorite subjects in school. Each forum includes a lesson related to Tacoma’s past, present, and future. Forums are free and open to the public and this forum is part a three-part series and other topics that include:
- History: Institutionalized Racism and Urban Planning
- Art: Good Design and Public Space (Mar 29)
This forum will be accompanied by a Tacoma Roots event. Tacoma Roots is an anti-racist environmental justice community forum for learning and discussion. Their leadership influences policy and community movements. We are excited to be partnering with them in 2019. For those who cannot attend, join the conversation on Feb 22, on Twitter using the hashtag #DOTGForum and following @downtownonthego.
